The original plant flowered bright red in its pot, and was much the same a year later. Part 2 shows the rich colours of later years. The sepals were serrated even on the young plant, but never so much as to be fringed. A rooted cutting, below, has smooth-edged (‘entire’) sepals. Growing in acidic compost , its veins are blue enough to suggest Superba can flower with a rich blue colour.
