The general seedsmen listed on this page mostly sell mixtures, but with some named varieties as well.  Here Kings and Unwins stand out from the rest:   We suggest you write for their catalogues - both companies offer a great many named varieties, always reliable as regards colour,.and produce special Autumn catalogues in which Sweet Peas feature prominently, as well as producing their fuller, annual catalogues.

The following links (each was tested on 7th May, 2009) should help you to find the Sweet Pea seeds listed among the many thousands of other flower and vegetable seeds offered on the world wide web by UK general seedsmen.

DT Brown and Co. (now near Newmarket) offers eight Singles and several mixtures:

Chiltern Seeds (near Ulverston) has Stylish, Royal Family singles, and a few heirloom sorts:

Samuel Dobie & Son (at Paignton) has very few kinds now, several the same as Suttons - go to

http://www.dobies.co.uk/ProductList.aspx?h1=S-FLOWER&h2=

Mr Fothergills Seeds Ltd (near Newmarket) again lists more than before, but confusingly - , offers some sorts at old AND revised prices! http://www.mr-fothergills.co.uk/search/sweet+pea

E W King & Co Ltd (Monks Farm, Coggeshall Road, Kelvedon, Colchester CO5 9PG) a fast  web-site but with a muddled layout at present - a big selection but disappointing pictures - go to

http://www.kingsseeds.com/kolist/1/FLOWERS/F-S/SWEET+PEA/SEPARATE+COLOURS Kings’ printed catalogues are far better, ask specially for the Sweet Pea one.

Nicky's Nursery Mail Order Seeds (mail order only):now a very good site, truthful pictures:

Sarah Raven's new web-site opened for December 1st, 2008. She has only a small selection of Sweet Peas (only four Spencers) but the enlargeable pictures are very attractive. From the top of

http://www.sarahraven.com/catalog/seeds/flower-seeds/cat_hardy-annual-seeds.html

you have only to “page down” as far as Lathyrus odoratus.

Seeds-By-Size (near Hemel Hempstead): John Size offers hundreds of Spencer varieties, even sorts up to sixty years old: then plenty of old-fashioned kinds, etc. etc.: seed is sold by weight:

Simply (Norfolk) This big  firm of plant suppliers offers old-fashioned varieties and Spencers, a few of these being recent introductions.  On what is possibly the world's most “twee” web-site there are some beautiful photographs, some as misleading as some of the descriptions! Simply go to

http://www.simplysweetpeas.co.uk

Suttons Seeds (in Paignton) A list of mixtures and a few named varieties can again be found at

http://www.suttons.co.uk but are hardly worth navigating to, though the pictures are enlargeable.

Thompson & Morgan (in Ipswich)  lots of mixtures but some good singles too - an efficient site, worth a visit just for the pictures - click on a variety’s name in pages 9 to 11 of the catalogue at:

http://www.thompson-morgan.com/seeds1/ilist/flowers-s.html?page=9.

Unwins Seeds Limited, - renowned for seed quality and viability - write to Unwins at Alconbury Hill, Huntingdon, Cambs, PE28 4HY for their “UnwinsDirect” Autumn and Main catalogues,.or ‘phone UK 01-480-443-700. Like Sweet Pea flowers (if cut), the catalogues keep coming. Site at
