Blue Deckle - supplied by Fillan’s Plants in April 1998
Blue Deckle is an early-opening serrata lacecap hydrangea of medium height, quite graceful in flower. In spite of the Deckle name, smooth-edged sepals are quite common. The picture below shows the sky blue colour that is dominant in summer and early autumn.
Growing in its original pot, this plant first flowered a soft pink. A three-year-old rooted cutting well developed in its pot was still a soft lilac colour in 2002:
The colour doesn’t last as well as in Frillibet, fading after about a month and sometimes developing crimson sun-spots: the florets eventually reverse, as most lacecaps do.
